Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson posts 15/6/6/1/1 line in 26 minutes
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 12:08 PM
Amen Thompson posted a full line on Sunday with 15 points (6-of-9 FGs), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block in a 126-11 loss to the Nuggets.
Analysis: Head coach Ime Udoka opted to treat this game as a dress rehearsal for the playoffs, though he ended up pulling the plug in the second half once things got out of hand. Still, 26 minutes was enough time for Thompson to turn in a full stat line. He'll be playing in his first playoffs starting next weekend for the No. 2 seed Rockets in what has been an impressive breakout season for the entire team. Thompson's progression has been right at the center of it, and he should shine in the playoffs.
Jalen Green
Jalen Green held to two points in loss to Denver
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 11:59 AM
Jalen Green struggled on Sunday and contributed just two points (0-of-7 FGs), two rebounds and two assists against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Thankfully, this was a meaningless game for the Rockets. Though head coach Ime Udoka treated it like any other game, Houston had already clinched the second seed in the West. Green played more than he did in each of their last two games, as he only played 15 minutes in each of those and was up to 21 minutes this afternoon. However, he did even less scoring on Sunday and set a new season-low for points. Green will make his playoff debut next weekend, though their matchup will depend on who makes it out of the Play-In Tournament.
Jabari Smith
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) out Sunday vs. Denver
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 8:36 AM
NBA Injury Report
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) is out for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Absent from the initial injury report, Smith will not play in Houston's regular-season finale. His absence likely frees up rotation minutes for Cam Whitmore, who went off for 34 points in Friday's loss to the Lakers. His ceiling won't be as high on Sunday, especially with Rockets coach Ime Udoka deciding to play his starters their usual minutes.
Jae'Sean Tate
Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) considered week-to-week
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 8:07 AM
Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nuggets and is considered week-to-week.
Analysis: Tate was ruled out for Houston's final regular season a day in advance and his return date for the postseason is up in the air. He hasn't played a significant role for the Rockets this season and his recovery shouldn't affect the team's preferred rotation.
Fred VanVleet
HOU starting FVV, Green, Thompson, Brooks, Sengun
Sun, Apr 13, 2025, 7:57 AM
Danielle Lerner
Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Dillon Brooks and Alperen Sengun will start Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: The Rockets will use their preferred starting lineup despite already holding the second seed in the West. Rockets coach Ime Udoka said during his pregame availability that the starters will take on their usual workloads, which is excellent news for fantasy managers in active leagues who have any of them rostered.
Tari Eason
Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr. off injury report
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 2:45 PM
NBA Injury Report
Tari Eason (leg) and Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) are not on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: After sitting out Friday's loss to the Lakers, Eason and Smith are off the injury report. How much Houston's rotation players will play on Sunday is undetermined, as they've already secured the two-seed in the West. David Roddy and Nate Williams may see significant playing time during the second half since there won't be anything on the line for the Rockets.
Alperen Sengun
Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson available Sunday
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 2:40 PM
NBA Injury Report
Alperen Sengun (personal) and Amen Thompson (rest) are not on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Based on the Rockets' initial injury report for Sunday's regular-season finale, Sengun and Thompson will be available. However, Houston has already secured the two-seed in the West, so the starters' playing time may be limited. Jeff Green, Cam Whitmore and Jock Landale started Friday's loss to the Lakers, and the latter two are safe bets to log rotation minutes off the bench on Sunday.
Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks off injury report
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 2:35 PM
NBA Injury Report
Fred VanVleet (ankle) and Dillon Brooks (groin) are not on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Despite already securing the two-seed in the West, the Rockets have made their key players available for Sunday's regular-season finale. How much VanVleet and Brooks will play remains to be seen. However, the lack of stakes for Houston should ensure Reed Sheppard of rotation minutes.
Jae'Sean Tate
Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) ruled out Sunday vs. Denver
Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 2:32 PM
NBA Injury Report
Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Tate is the lone player on the Rockets' injury report for Sunday's game, so the team will put forth some resistance on Sunday despite being locked into the two-seed in the West. Tate's continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
Cam Whitmore
Cam Whitmore scores career-high 34 points Friday
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 7:18 PM
Cam Whitmore shot 13-of-19 from the field and 1-of-1 from the foul line in Friday's loss to the Lakers, scoring 34 points with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and seven three-pointers in 37 minutes in Friday's loss to the Lakers.
Analysis: Once again, the Rockets decided to rest four starters, and Jalen Green (7/4/3/1 with one three-pointer) was shut down at halftime. Having secured the two-seed in the West, the Rockets have prioritized rest for their key players. The approach has freed additional minutes for Whitmore, who could not earn consistent playing time this season. The former first-round pick was rolling on Friday, shooting well over 50 percent from the field and recording a career-high point total. Fantasy managers in active leagues seeking a player who could potentially go off on Sunday should look no further than Whitmore, especially if the Rockets hold their starters out of the matchup with the Nuggets.
Jabari Smith
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) out Friday vs. Clippers
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 9:32 AM
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Smith is set to miss a second straight game. The Rockets are limited at forward off the bench, so Jeff Green will likely be heavily utilized in Friday's contest.
Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks out Friday vs. LAC
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 9:25 AM
Fred VanVleet (ankle) and Dillon Brooks (groin) have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: VanVleet and Brooks are set to miss their second straight meetings with the Clippers. Reed Sheppard and Jeff Green will likely be among the players called upon to notch spot starts against Los Angeles ahead of the weekend.
Alperen Sengun
Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson out Friday vs. LAL
Fri, Apr 11, 2025, 9:13 AM
Alperen Sengun (personal) and Amen Thompson (rest) have been ruled out for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: Sengun and Thompson both missed the Rockets' last game. The Rockets have added more names to their injury report since then, though. Cam Whitmore has a chance to start and carry a heavy workload on Friday.
Dillon Brooks
Dillon Brooks, Amen Thompson available Friday
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 3:29 PM
NBA Injury Report
Dillon Brooks (rest) and Amen Thompson (rest) are off the injury report for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: Brooks and Thompson were among the Rockets' starters who did not play in Wednesday's loss to the Clippers. They'll return to the lineup on Friday, likely pushing Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore to the bench. While Eason should remain rostered in active fantasy leagues, Whitmore does not have to be held in standard formats.
Jabari Smith
Jabari Smith Jr. questionable, Jae'Sean Tate out
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 3:04 PM
NBA Injury Report
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) is questionable for Friday's game against the Lakers and Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) is out.
Analysis: Smith's potential absence is more impactful than Tate's being unavailable, as he plays high minutes off the bench. Cam Whitmore and Jeff Green may have playing time available, but that would depend on Smith's availability. If he cannot play, those two should figure more prominently in the Rockets' plans on Friday.
Alperen Sengun
Alperen Sengun, Fred VanVleet questionable Friday
Thu, Apr 10, 2025, 2:54 PM
NBA Injury Report
Alperen Sengun (personal) and Fred VanVleet (ankle) are questionable for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: Sengun and VanVleet sat out Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, with the former not playing due to a sore back. He's now questionable for personal reasons. The Rockets started Reed Sheppard at point guard and Jock Landale at the five on Wednesday. They may do the same if VanVleet and Sengun cannot play against the Lakers.
Jeff Green
Jeff Green scores season-high 19 points vs. LAC
Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 6:55 PM
Jeff Green logged 19 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, accumulating 19 points (7-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and four three-pointers.
Analysis: To no one's surprise, Uncle Jeff still has plenty left in the tank. Houston played Wednesday's game without four starters, resulting in Green playing rotation minutes. He took advantage, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and scoring a season-high 19 points. This performance should not convince fantasy managers in active leagues to add Green ahead of Houston's final two games of the regular season, but it was fun to watch him get going.
Tari Eason
Tari Eason posts 17/5/2/1/1 line vs. LA Clippers
Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 6:54 PM
Tari Eason accounted for 17 points (7-of-12 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers in 27 minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Clippers.
Analysis: Eason was allowed to start on Wednesday, as the Rockets held out four of their usual starters. As expected, he recorded a complete stat line and was efficient while doing so. The third-year forward has consistently been in the top 100 in eight- and nine-cat formats this season, exceeding his Yahoo! ADP of 142. The concern for Eason is availability, as he did not play both games of back-to-backs due to the lingering leg issue that cut his 2023-24 season short. Hopefully, that will not be an issue for him next year.
Dillon Brooks
Dillon Brooks (rest) out Wednesday vs. LA Clippers
Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 11:42 AM
NBA Injury Report
Dillon Brooks (rest) is out for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Brooks is unavailable for rest reasons, leaving Jalen Green as the lone Rockets starter who will play on Wednesday. Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore are well-positioned to benefit from Brooks' absence, with the former possessing a much higher fantasy ceiling.
Jabari Smith
Jabari Smith Jr., Amen Thompson out Wednesday
Wed, Apr 9, 2025, 11:37 AM
Jabari Smith Jr. (groin) and Amen Thompson (rest) are out for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: For a game that carries importance in the western conference playoff standings, the Rockets are missing quite a few players. Smith Jr. and Thompson join Alperen Sengun, Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks on the sidelines Wednesday. Cam Whitmore and Jae'Sean Tate are prime candidates to see increased minutes against the Clippers.
