Steven Adams
Steven Adams (head) off injury report vs. Cavs
Tue, Jan 21, 2025, 12:48 PM
NBA Injury Report
Steven Adams (migraine) is not on the injury report for Wednesday's game against Cleveland.
Analysis: Adams will be back after a one-game absence, where he will return to filling out the backup center minutes. Jock Landale will be pushed back out of the rotation, though it won't impact fantasy basketball.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson records 17/6/5/3 line vs. Detroit
Mon, Jan 20, 2025, 10:29 AM
Amen Thompson tallied 17 points (7-of-14 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), six rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 40 minutes in Monday's loss to the Pistons.
Analysis: While Amen had a better stat line than twin brother Ausar (11 points, nine rebounds, and one blocked shot), he'd prefer to take the win. Fantasy-wise, Amen has been outstanding since replacing Jabari Smith Jr. (hand) in the starting lineup. Over the past two weeks, Thompson has provided top-20 per-game value in 8- and 9-cat formats. Also, the Rockets are 6-2 since Thompson moved into the starting lineup.
Jalen Green
Jalen Green scores 19 points in loss to Pistons
Mon, Jan 20, 2025, 10:28 AM
Jalen Green shot 8-of-21 from the field and 1-of-2 from the foul line in Monday's loss to Detroit, scoring 19 points with four rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 30 minutes.
Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet leads Rockets with 20 points
Mon, Jan 20, 2025, 10:27 AM
Fred VanVleet played 38 minutes in Monday's loss to the Pistons, scoring 20 points (7-of-15 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, six steals, and five 3-pointers.
Analysis: VanVleet entered Monday having shot 39.2% from the field in his three games prior, slightly higher than his season-long percentage (38.9%). While a poor shooter from the field, FVV's value in other areas is why he remains ranked so high in fantasy basketball. VanVleet had his second six-steal game of the month on Monday, and the rebounds (five) and 3-pointers (five) will also benefit fantasy managers. Houston plays two more games in Week 13 against the Cavaliers (Wednesday and Saturday).
Steven Adams
Steven Adams (head) out vs. Pistons Monday
Mon, Jan 20, 2025, 7:39 AM
Steven Adams (migraine) has been ruled out for Monday's Rockets-Pistons game.
Analysis: Adams logged a season-high 17 minutes his last time out but will return to the shelf for Monday. Jock Landale will get a chance to step up behind Alperen Sengun against Detroit.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson (calf) active vs. Pistons Monday
Mon, Jan 20, 2025, 6:25 AM
Amen Thompson (left calf tightness) is active for Monday's Rockets-Pistons game.
Analysis: Thompson will be back in the mix on Monday after sitting against the Trail Blazers in his team's last game. The two-way wing has thrived as a starter and should bump Jae'Sean Tate back to the bench upon returning to the lineup.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson (calf) questionable Monday vs. DET
Sun, Jan 19, 2025, 12:40 PM
Amen Thompson (left calf tightness) is questionable for Monday's game against the Pistons.
Analysis: Thompson missed Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers and is listed as questionable Monday with a calf injury. If he's ultimately ruled out against the Pistons Jae-Sean Tate should move into the starting lineup again with Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore seeing extra minutes off the bench.
Jalen Green
Jalen Green scores efficient 26 points vs. POR
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 6:55 PM
Jalen Green shot 10-of-17 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Saturday's win over Portland, tallying 26 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
Analysis: Green has been on fire recently, providing top-10 value in 9-cat formats over the past two weeks. He's scored 26 points or more in eight straight games, shooting well over 50% from the field. Not only have the numbers been there for Green, but so has efficiency. We'll see if he can maintain this production level for the long haul, but it would be huge for the Rockets and fantasy basketball managers if Green did.
Alperen Sengun
Alperen Sengun tallies 23 points, 15 rebounds
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 6:53 PM
Alperen Sengun accounted for 23 points (10-of-19 FGs, 2-of-5 FTs), 15 rebounds, six assists, two steals, one block, and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes in Saturday's 125-103 win over Portland.
Analysis: Sengun was dominant on Saturday, recording his first 15-rebound double-double since December 29 (18/18/6/1/1 vs. Miami). Over the past two weeks, the Rockets center has been ranked just outside the top 100 in 9-cat formats. Sengun remains a top-50 player for the season, and he has the skill set needed to improve on that status, especially with the Rockets among the top teams in the Western Conference.
Dillon Brooks
Dillon Brooks posts 22/6/3/1/1 line vs. Blazers
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 6:53 PM
Dillon Brooks accounted for 22 points (9-of-18 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, and two 3-pointers in 37 minutes.
Analysis: After scoring 12 points or less in seven straight games, Brooks needed a night like Saturday. The veteran wing's 22 points are the most he's scored in a game since December 22 (27 vs. Toronto). Brooks' 9-cat value has been ranked outside the top 175 in 9-cat formats over the past two weeks, falling outside the top 150 for the season. He's still rostered in 20% of Yahoo leagues due mainly to his status as a starter.
Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet hits three 3-pointers vs. Portland
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 6:52 PM
Fred VanVleet shot 3-of-10 from the field in Saturday's win over Portland, scoring nine points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 36 minutes.
Analysis: VanVleet returned to the Rockets lineup after a one-game absence, and the output was a bit underwhelming. The 3-point production was solid, but there wasn't much else for fantasy managers to write home about. However, VanVleet is shooting 45.6% from the field over the past two weeks and providing 3rd-round value in 9-cat formats, an improvement compared to his season-long production. VanVleet and the Rockets play three games during Week 13, starting with the Pistons on Monday.
Jae'Sean Tate
HOU starting FVV, Green, Brooks, Tate, Sengun
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 3:42 PM
Danielle Lerner
Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Jae'Sean Tate, and Alperen Sengun will start Saturday's game against Portland.
Analysis: Rockets coach Ime Udoka initially announced that Jeff Green would start for Amen Thompson. However, that was before Portland ruled out starting center Deandre Ayton. That change has prompted Udoka to change his lineup, replacing Uncle Jeff with Tate. This is Tate's first start of the season, but fantasy managers should expect to see plenty of Tari Eason off the bench.
Jabari Smith
Jabari Smith Jr. (hand) unlikely to need surgery
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 3:12 PM
Danielle Lerner
Rockets coach Ime Udoka said Saturday that Jabari Smith Jr. will not undergo surgery on his fractured left hand.
Analysis: When Smith injured his hand in early January, a timeline of four-to-eight weeks was given. While not needing surgery is a positive development, Smith's return may take a little longer than it would have with a procedure. When healthy, Amen Thompson will fill the void left by Smith.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson (calf) ruled out Saturday vs. POR
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 2:43 PM
Vanessa Richardson
Amen Thompson (left calf tightness) is out for Saturday's game against Portland.
Analysis: Initially questionable for Saturday's game, Thompson will not play against the Blazers. With Fred VanVleet (personal) active, Jae'Sean Tate will move into the starting lineup. Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore will also have added fantasy value with Thompson ruled out.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson (calf) questionable Saturday vs. POR
Sat, Jan 18, 2025, 8:38 AM
NBA Injury Report
Amen Thompson (left calf tightness) is questionable for Saturday's game against Portland.
Analysis: Thompson has shined since Jabari Smith Jr.'s broken hand pushed him into the Rockets' starting lineup. If he's unable to play against Portland, Houston would likely turn to Jeff Green to fill the void. Green started Thursday's win over Sacramento, filling in for Fred VanVleet (personal). VanVleet will be available for Saturday's game.
Jock Landale
Jock Landale (personal) out Saturday vs. Portland
Fri, Jan 17, 2025, 2:39 PM
NBA Injury Report
Jock Landale will miss Saturday's game against Portland for personal reasons.
Analysis: Saturday's game will be the third straight missed by Landale. He hasn't been a consistent rotation member when available, so the Rockets center's continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
Fred VanVleet
Fred VanVleet (personal) absent from injury report
Fri, Jan 17, 2025, 2:32 PM
NBA Injury Report
Fred VanVleet (personal reasons) is not on the injury report for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Analysis: VanVleet was not with the Rockets for Thursday's loss to the Kings, but his absence from the injury report means he'll be available on Saturday. Jeff Green will return to the bench after starting and playing 23 minutes on Thursday.
Amen Thompson
Amen Thompson tallies 20/10/5/2/1 line vs. Kings
Thu, Jan 16, 2025, 7:09 PM
Amen Thompson recorded a double-double on Thursday with 20 points (8-of-12 FGs), 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block against the Kings.
Analysis: With Fred VanVleet sidelined, Thompson was able to get the start at point guard. He led the team in assists and recorded a double-double with some defensive stats. He didn't have as many assists as expected as the starting point guard, but he was still able to turn in a fantasy-friendly line. He has been a top-25 player in 9-cat leagues over the past two weeks, and now that he is locked in as a starter for at least a few more weeks, he'll continue to be a fantasy superstar.
Jalen Green
Jalen Green records 28/5/4 line with 4 threes
Thu, Jan 16, 2025, 6:42 PM
Jalen Green led Houston with 28 points (10-of-20 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, one block and four 3-pointers in a 132-127 loss to Sacramento on Thursday.
Analysis: Though it wasn't enough to help the Rockets extend their win streak, Green was still able to have a big performance. This was his seventh straight game with at least 25 points and seven 3-pointers, and he has been a top ten player in 9-cat leagues over the past two weeks. He hit some big shots down the stretch and scored eight points over the final two minutes and nearly helped Houston complete the comeback. Green has had some incredible hot streaks throughout his career, and he'll look to keep this one going in Portland on Saturday.
Tari Eason
Tari Eason (leg) scores 16 points in return
Thu, Jan 16, 2025, 6:35 PM
Tari Eason returned to the lineup on Thursday and contributed 16 points (6-of-10 FGs), four rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Kings.
Analysis: After missing their last 13 games with a leg injury, Eason was available to play a limited role in this game. He wasn't able to have a productive night, but it was great to see him back on the floor. He scored all 16 of his points in the second half and almost helped the Rockets complete the comeback after being down 16 points. He was limited to 24 minutes, but with Fred VanVleet (personal) sidelined, Cam Whitmore was also able to play 23 minutes. Houston will wrap up the week in Portland on Saturday, so keep an eye on the minutes allocation for both backup forward if VanVleet is back.
